We do not hand over a result and wish you luck. We tell you what it means, and if the news is bad, we help you work out why.

Independent by design

Sirris was founded in 1949 by and for the Belgian technology industry and operates as a not-for-profit organisation. We have no materials to sell and no supplier to defend, which means our report says exactly what we measured and nothing more. For companies building a technical file, substantiating a claim or settling a discussion with a supplier, that neutrality is the entire point.

One network, every material

Our labs are spread across Belgium and cover metals, plastics, composites, coatings, adhesives and 3D printed parts. Together they handle mechanical, chemical and functional characterisation, accelerated ageing under controlled conditions, and diagnostic analysis on parts that have already failed in service. When a test falls outside our own scope, we say so and refer you to a lab in our international network that can run it properly.

When the result is not the one you were hoping for

A failed test is rarely the end of the story. It usually means something upstream needs to change: a material choice, a process parameter, a supplier batch, and occasionally the test method itself. We are one of the few labs with the expertise to work backwards from a disappointing result towards a solution.

  • Root cause analysis on parts that failed in production or in the field
  • Advice on material selection, surface treatment and process settings
  • Guidance on which standard actually applies to your product
  • Retesting and validation once the change has been made
  • Training for your own team, so results can be interpreted in house

What you can expect

A report you can act on

Every report states the method, the test conditions and the result in plain language, with a written interpretation from the expert who ran the test.

Accredited where it matters

A defined set of our methods is accredited under BELAC certificate n° 232-TEST (ISO 17025), and Sirris is ISO 9001 certified. Every report states clearly which regime applies to your test.

Standardised or purpose-built

If no existing standard answers your question, we design a test setup that does and document it fully, so the result holds up to external scrutiny.

You talk to the expert

The engineer who runs your test is the person who discusses the results with you. No handovers, no translation layer.

Close to your production site

With labs at several locations in Belgium, transport is short, handling is limited and your samples reach the right specialist quickly.

The right standard, not just the right test

Knowing which standard applies to your product is often harder than running the test itself. Our regulatory experts help you work out what your market, your customer or your certification body actually requires.
